Time to get your app into the public domain and upload it to GooglePlay

App distribution is what we see as the most exciting part of app making. This is the point at which you make your work public, and begin your journey to app success.

In order for your app business to succeed, you need to get your app into the public domain in the most effective manner. GooglePlay is not the only app store in the Android market, but whether or not we like it, GooglePlay dominates the market, and for most people is the best way to get an app to the masses.

The success of your app distribution comes down to your pre-distribution  marketing. In previous posts, we have spoken about the importance of building your brand prior to app distribution. Once you have got to the distribution stage, it is not the time to take a step back. You need to ensure that the distribution process is carried out precisely, as now isn’t the time to start making mistakes.

It is amazing to see how our Android app makers are turning their singular apps into Android app businesses and for those if you that have turned to me asking for advice for improving the success of your app, let me remind you, app makers with a multitude of apps are ten times more likely to have Android app success than those who stick to a single app.

Creating an app empire brings value to your main app because it builds trust in you and your brand. I am not going to bore you with the details about why you should make an app empire as we have already discussed that, but remember the main route to app success begins with: the need to build trust in your app users, create an Android app brand and bring some loyalty to your brand.

We are going to take a singular idea and by using different template styles we are going to turn this idea into multiple apps. The idea behind this is to be able to capture different audience styles thus increasing your brand’s overall audience size.

I am going to take the subject of education as my idea for my app portfolio, you will see that with this one subject I am able to make several different styled apps that will capture different audience types. Different audiences for this theme could include: parents looking for advice, educators and the kids themselves!

What apps can I make?

1: Browser app

This app template is a wonderful tool for those wanting to build a large educational app without having to create a lot of new content. The Browser app tool allows you to navigate various web resources from within the app. We can find a range of educational related websites that we like best that we can link to our app. Always make sure that you check all copyrights and have permission to use these sites before you do this.

2: RSS app

The RSS app tool gives you the ability to create a pre-set search for real time news on a chosen topic, we are going to set our app search educational advice. If you don’t want a range of different sites appearing, you can also link to a RSS feed from a chosen website instead of creating a general search.

3: YouTube video app

This template is one that have numerous uses, it can be used for educational purposes, for example, teaching someone about the stages of development in a pre-school aged children, or it can be used to show lesson tutorial videos. We love using this tool for both reasons therefore this template can actually build you two different apps.

4: Website app

Welcome to our most popular app tool of all times. This app is to be used to link to your own personal website that has been optimized for mobile use . This app template can be used for more than one reason, you can use it to create links to your website, your blog, or even your social networks, that is already 3 different apps that you can create from one template alone.

5: Zip Archive  app

Why don’t you create an off line app? You can write your own files and upload them using the zip archive  app. Create what you wish, lesson plans, downlodable lessons and so forth. This app style is for those that want to test their technical expertise

Create Android App Success With a Solid Social Media Marketing Strategy

$

0

We hear it time and time again, that the only way to market your business in the modern world is by using a social media marketing strategy. Well guys, this is actually a true fact and not a modern marketing myth. Social media marketing, if carried out correctly is in fact the most successful form of marketing that any business can ever have.

Social media marketing strategy

Social media marketing strategy for your app

There is so much more to social media that a place to chat and read the latest gossip from your friends. Social media is the hub for sharing, connecting and engaging. Don’t get me wrong, it is not all perfect. People are very happy to share a poor review about your business making it even more important for you to have a social media presence so you can show the world the face behind your business.

A social media marketing strategy should not only focus on Facebook. Facebook may be the most popular of all social sites, but it is becoming much harder for business pages to drive engagement. Facebook has set a lot of boundaries for businesses and organic reach has fallen dramatically. However, this does not mean your business should not have an active Facebook page. It is vital that you do. Your organic reach and appearance in  news-feeds may be down, but Facebook is often a place where people will turn to, to seek customer service and source further information about a company.

Social media marketing is all about engagement. Your company should be providing information on your profiles often to keep your audience interested and you need to be responding to their needs as quickly as possible to encourage engagement. Twitter we have seen take a step back recently, with more companies moving to visual social sites, such as Pinterest and Instagram. If you have taken your time creating your dream app business, is it not only fair to say it is worth investing your time on your marketing strategy?

Because social media has such a large scope, it may be worth your while, at least until you have become established, to employ a marketing agency to set up and manage your social media marketing. If you fail to get it right at the beginning, you may risk losing your business before it has the ability to even begin. Social media, if utilized effectively, will bring an audience to your business and will build brand awareness, engagement and loyalty.

When creating your social media marketing plan you need to take the following into account:

1: Engagement does not happen overnight – Do not think that you can create an account, pay one of those companies to search for followers and you will succeed. A proper social media campaign does not work that way. You only want to be engaging with qualified leads, this means people that are actually interested in your service or product. To create a real following you may find that it takes a few months to even a year. Social media has a snowball effect, once you begin to build an audience it suddenly begins to grow.

2: Promote your social media profiles – Make your social media profiles clear on all your paperwork, websites, apps, blogs and whereever there is any form of written text. Make it clear that you want people to communicate with you via your social media profiles. Building an audience is like watching a snowball roll down a mountain, it begins slowly, and gradually increases speed and size.

3: Trial different platforms – Social media is not just having a Facebook and Twitter profile. There are many other forms of social media out there, and each differs slightly in style and tone. Your business may fit better into some categories than others. Check which platform will attract the right audience style for you. Let me stress clearly – Not every company needs to be on every platform. Remember that Instagram, Pinterest, or YouTube are all there for you. Each social media platform has its advantages and disadvantages. It is up to you to decide which platform best suits your needs and to utilize each platform for the style of audience they will attract for you.

4. Be realistic– Social media marketing is SOCIAL. What is means is that if you want to succeed in this style of marketing for your company, then you need to be willing to be active and I don’t just mean posting to your page. You need to be interacting on other peoples’ posts, pages and building up a network. You should be professional, but this is informal marketing and personality is vital. Don’t be scared to make a joke, speak in conversational tongue or raise a question.

Android App Ideas from Our Own App Makers

“I just want to thank the team at AppsGeyser for the support that they have offered me. Being new to app making I did not know where to start but I knew, if I wanted my toy shop to succeed, I needed to get my app mobile – Thank you AppsGeyser :D  “

The app maker above, Nick, contacted us at AppsGeyser to thank us for the service that we provided him recently and the Android app ideas we gave him for his business. It is so lovely to hear back from our app makers. In today’s age, most people will only contact you for questions and to complain so getting an email to thank us means a lot.

Android app ideas

Create a range of Android app ideas for your existing website

ApsGeyser  cannot take the credit for the app that any app maker creates. The content is what will make the app successful. What Appsgeyser can do, is provide you with top of the range templates, assist you in all your technical questions, help you plan your marketing strategy and make sure that you get your Android app ideas out into the public domain. AppsGeyser is here to provide you with the tools, and it is your creativity, your business planning and your hardwork that turns an app into a success.

Nick created an app from his toy shop, called Nick’s Toys. The app is based upon the company’s website, which specializes in unique educational toys for boys aged 7+. Although the website at present is still under construction, (hence we have not included any links to the app or the website), we can tell you about the basic layout, and how we managed to help Nick plan his app network.

Nick has an eCommerce site and has used a range of eCommerce templates, each of which are set to different sections of his website. There is also a template that he has used to create an app for his entire website. The reason he has the smaller apps, focusing upon parts of this toys selection, is because he can then focus upon a smaller target audience. An app maker that has a range of apps is 7 time more likely to have Android app success.

In addition to the multiple apps created from his website, Nick has also created an RSS app that will connect to his blog. He also has created another app that will connect to his company’s YouTube page. It is planned that Nick will also create a number of gaming apps to promote his brand.

Before the apps go live, Nick is beginning to create his marketing strategy. At present he is building his social networking pages, which will also be turned into apps. He is planning to launch his first app only once he has a solid audience base on his social profile, and will introduce a new app every week after the initial launch.

Glad to have helped you Nick, and we are looking forward to seeing the finished products of your Android app ideas live in the near future.

Messenger App Customization Explained

$
0
0

I have had many questions regarding our previous post and messenger customizations. I need to explain that customization of the messenger app, including adding bots and stickers is a process that is done on the personal level. This means that you add the customization to your app on your device and not during the app making process.

The customization that you create will only work on YOUR app and not that of your app users. This is a very important fact to understand.

To help you customize your app I would like to show you how to add bots and stickers.

Firstly open your messenger app on your phone.

When open you will see the search feature with the magnifying glass icon on the top right

Messenger app search

Messenger app search- use @ and Bot name

In the search you can look for a range of bots and sticker files. Here are some that you may wish to add:

  • @ImageBot – send this bot a keyword and it’ll provide you with a relevant picture.
  • @TriviaBot – test your trivia knowledge or add to groups to compete with friends.
  • @PollBot – add this one to group chats to create polls.
  • @RateStickerBot – discover and rate new stickers.
  • @AlertBot – set a time and this bot will send you a reminder for anything you like.
  • @HotOrBot – find friends with this Tinder-like dating bot.
  • @StoreBot – find new bots and rate them.

To discover new bots you can use this:

  • @StoreBot – find new bots and rate them.

In order to find new stickers for your installed messenger template, open this website from your mobile device that your messenger template has been installed on: http://telegramstickers.altervista.org there are many sticker packs here that you can simply install direct to your working app.

Use Emotional Triggers to Improve Your Android App Loyalty

$

All is fair in games and war, and the same applies to business. The app world is extremely competitive, and many apps are fighting to gain loyalty from their app users. Think about it.There are 200 apps all aimed at the same topic, doing the same thing, so why would your app user stay with your app and not try another?

It’s time to use some emotional triggers to improve your Android app loyalty. Human beings are not logical creatures. If we were, then we would all study hard at school, start saving for our retirement from the moment we start working, eat healthy and exercise – instead, well, instead most people just go with the flow. What keeps most on track is an emotional pull. Emotions pull us towards the people we love and the brands we’re loyal to. Time to bring that loyalty to our app. So how can you create an emotional trigger inside of an app?

Trigger emotion on your Android app - using cute kids helps

Trigger emotion on your Android app – using cute kids helps

Emotion

We have found that visuals are often the most successful of all tricks to trigger an emotional response. The visuals do not have to be of starving children left in a warzone. No, triggering emotion means playing on all our emotions, including humor. There are sites, such as Cheezburger that is an example of a humorous website that makes you go back for more, as is College humor.

If you look at the actual content and style of these sites, they are extremely simple. It is the content and not site design that is stirring an emotional response – laughter.  How many times have you sat in your car on a long journey and on comes an old song that sends you back to your past? The nostalgia triggers another response in us, making you feel warm and fuzzy. I have to say, we are often in the car and my kids start to cringe when old songs come on. Like a little old woman (and I’m not that old) I will happily sing along to a song and then start telling my kids stories of ‘when I was younger’… Radio stations are extremely easy to create via AppsGeyser.

Think how you have loyalty for a particular brand. In blind taste tests Pepsi performs better than Coke. However, once the blindfold is off – Coke beats Pepsi by a mile (and it shows in the company stocks as well). Why is this? It all comes down to the memories and emotional triggers that the brand of Coke has managed to achieve, so much so that people are more willing to drink a drink that has not won in a taste test! The emotion controls our loyalty.

The real question is – what emotion do you want to trigger?

Design

What you need first is great design. Get your brand designed before you start to make an app. Create a well thought out visual design for your brand that will then transfer over into your app. What you also have to ensure is that you have made your website and any other URL link that you are converting into an app, mobile friendly. If the URL you are using is not mobile friendly you will lose all your brand style, and thus you will lose your loyalty.

Ensuring that you website is mobile friendly will simplify the web elements so that navigation is clear. Instead of multiple columns of text, which looks great on a website – make one column of text (not too wide). Minimize graphics to the most basic elements that pop out instead of having cluttered design. Think about font size – not all of us have perfect vision – and the older we get (keep the comments to yourself) the harder it is to differentiate subtle color differences. Make sure everyone can read the font sizes on your app without expanding. Keep contrast between the text and the background – and for goodness sake – Do Not Put White Text on a Black Background.

Care

Push notifications can be either the angel that promotes your app or the devil that makes your users hate you and turn them off. What we are saying here is don’t send push notifications just for the sake of it. Make them relevant and don’t send them every five minutes. Make sure you are sending something that will benefit the user and not as spam for yourself. Make the user feel as if you are sending them something personal for them. Show the user how much you care, and they will respond in turn.

Give people the ability to share on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter from your app. If you’re about images then consider Pinterest, and if about content then also Reddit and Digg.

Be there when they need you. Do you have a Facebook page for your app? What about Twitter? If someone has a question / comment / compliment – can they find you? Because they should be able to.

Think Outside The Box – Create an Android App with Unique Content

It is time for you to create an Android app with unique content. Some of the best content out there on the net is the content that simply does not fit in any box, is unique and grabs attention. To make a name for yourself you should aim to create content that no one else has thought of and that is not an easy task.

Thinking outside the box is what you need to do. College Humor has done just that and created a range of videos based upon taking a usual situation and turning it upside down. I have to say that I am addicted to their content, the ideas that they come up with are simply amazing and the person that decided to turn Dora the Explorer into a real action explorer simply deserves a medal. They took a simple idea, turned it upside down and came out with what can be considered one of the funniest sketches of all time. Now, I may have found this funny because I am a parent that has been made to suffer through numerous episodes of Dora the Explora, so I could relate to the character.

Taking an idea like this, you too can start to create your own content based on everyday situations, turning them into comical sketches. Humor sells and humor builds loyalty. When you are smiling you are winning.

Now time for you to join in the fun….just for you, please, sit back and enjoy Dora the Explorer – The real action movie trailer.

Four Distractions Hurting Your Android App Career Efforts

You have all the good intentions of starting your very own Android app career. You have the idea in place, the content all ready, and you even know how you want to market your app. So what is stopping you from starting your Android app career?

What is distracting your and your Android app career

What is distracting your and your Android app career

Many of us sadly get distracted way too easily, leading to our inevitable app making failure. In this post I am going to highlight the main sources of distraction in the hope to keep you from making the same mistakes as many others have. It is time to put the distractions aside, and begin your career in Android app making.

1: Social networks – You are all set to get your social media plans up and running. Social media is perfect for marketing your android app career and building your audience prior to releasing your app. BUT, oh dear, you just can’t stop clicking over from your newly founded business profiles to your personal social profiles. Just that one second look to see if you’ve received a notification will take you off track for the next 10-20 minutes. You may very well think that split second look at your personal profile won’t set you back, but it will. That one second stops your concentration. It stops that train of thought and it takes time to get that back, losing you plenty of precious time. And by then, oh oops, you have clicked back to your personal page again, and that cycle of concentration lapses has repeated itself again.

2: Mobile phones – Beep, vibrate, ring. Oh, the joy of being connected. If you are not turning your phone off, or at least putting your phone on silent then you are setting yourself up for multiple disruptions. It isn’t just the two minute phone call that stops your train of thought. Once you have answered that call, how can you ignore those social network notifications? And how can you not click on to your favorite app? Do you have the urge to read that whatsapp message on the school notice group, even though you know it’s about the upcoming trip and not relevant right now? Of course you have to click on it. Well, that’s another hour of work gone. Time to turn that phone OFF.

3: Lack of organization – Today on the to-do list you want to create a social media contact list for Twitter, you want to upload some new images, oh and you want to delete and rewrite just one paragraph. And don’t forget that you want to create a new logo and research branding ideas. Well, once again you find yourself clicking from one thing to another. If you are not clear on your objectives of the day, or have too many conflicting ideas, then you will never get through the list and will spend your time clicking back and forth between each of the tasks you know need to be done.

4: Workspace – Your sofa is beautiful and ever so comfy, but it is NOT the ideal place for you to work from. If you want to work from home, you need to set yourself up a space that will provide comfort and no distractions. Having the kids running around, or seeing the breakfast bowls that need cleaning in the corner of your eye will simply keep giving you excuses to stop working. If you are at home there is always something that will distract you. The kids have the TV too loud, your partner is asking you questions. Stop. Clearing one hour with no distractions will benefit you much more than working through six hours of distraction. Find that time and place to work without distractions.

No more excuses… Go and start your Android app career today.

Pinterest Pin Button Will Take Your App around the World

Do you want to enjoy your app’s success, but wonder how to market it to a wide audience? Well, it is time you introduced a Pinterest Pin button to your android app

Pinterest is a fun and visual social media site, used for sharing images. Marketers have jumped on this social platform and are using it as part of their product growth strategy. There is huge growth on this platform. In fact it’s growth patterns have reflected the same growth pattern as Facebook did in 2006-7.

Pinterest has an audience that is contributing for the long term. Unlike a gaming platform, people are sharing images, images which they are attached to for personal and business reasons, and therefore they are committed to this platform.

In its first 8 months, Pinterest only had 40,000 unique users, but the platform’s growth snowballed with the number of shares it was receiving. The sharing aspect of this platform is what makes it a great tool for marketing your business.

It is time for you to add the Pinterest button to your app, and get your users to begin to share images from your app onto this fantastic social and viral media site. We have recently been adding different styles of customized code to our blog, and these codes are now available on our AppsGeyser Academy YouTube channel.

View the video below to add a Pinterest Pin Button to your Android app. Have fun, and enjoy this wonderful customized code.

Have you got dreams to give up the day job and sit back waiting for your Android apps to bring in a high-rolling salary for you? You are not alone. The competition that you are facing is harsh, but the dream can become a reality if you are willing to put in the work and focus on marketing your Android apps.

AppsGeyser has provided free to use Android app templates and continues to provide on-going customer service to help you customize and distribute your Android apps. However, what AppsGeyser can not do for you is to carry out your marketing. AppsGeyser will let you know the tools and tactics you need to implement for Android app success, but the rest of the work is up to you.

The most successful of all Android apps are those that have a strong social media presence. Using social media profiles can help you to build, engage and maintain a loyal audience.

Social media marketing is not for the fainthearted. It is not about posting your app and spamming people with adverts about your business. It is all about the engagement. You need to be grabbing your audience through the links you share, and the conversations you make. Social media marketing is focused upon getting the audience to know the people behind the business, and getting them to love you and become loyal to you. Today we are going to look at how we can engage our social media audience so that we can continue to build apps, and build our app business successfully.

Android App Marketing

1: Make time:  You will not need to break the bank to use social media for your marketing. Social media is free, but your time is not. Using this technique to get your app known is by far the most successful, and it is also by far the most time consuming. To get the most out of your social media marketing campaign, you need to either employ a social media person, or be prepared to be active for a few hours every single day. Of course this is not as daunting as you may think. Social media is available on every mobile device. Therefore you can divide your time between social online networking and responding to messages and notifications. The latter can be completed from your mobile device as and when a notification becomes available. Social networking should be a scheduled plan for you initially, ensuring you really build your audience. After a while this will wane and you can focus upon your notifications and engagement. When you begin your social media profiles, you must be prepared at the beginning to talk to yourself before people being to reply.

2: Advertise your social profiles – Make sure that people coming to you, either from your website, from any form of advertising, or through any contact with you are given easy access to your social profiles. Make your social media outlets clear on all your paperwork, website, app, blog and where ever there is any form of written text. Many of the templates on AppsGeyser have the ability to add tabs. If your website does not have social media buttons, add another tab on your mobile app app with links to all your social media. You want to ensure that your audience has a way to get connected with you. Building an audience is like watching a snowball roll down a mountain; it begins slowly and gradually increases speed and size.

3: Plan your social platforms – There are so many different platforms out there. One piece of advice: you do NOT have to be active on them all. Choose just two platforms that you can focus your time on, and build these successfully. You can build additional profiles once you have a stable following. Facebook and Twitter are the most popular of all sites; however, we believe you should have a visual platform also. Choose from Instagram, Pinterest, or YouTube. Each social media platform has its advantages and disadvantages. It is up to you to decide which will engage the right audience for your business.

4. Be realistic– If you want to be successful, you need to be active, engaging and interesting. If you are posting links that are irrelevant to your audience, or you are replying to contacts with boring links back to your website, then you will not succeed. Social media marketing is not traditional marketing. Social is exactly what this style of marketing needs to be to be successful. If people love you, they will gravitate to your Android apps without you having to persuade them to tune in.
