Hey You, What’s Your Name? Choosing the Right Android App Name

$
0
0

What makes you stand out in a list? That is right, your name. When you arrive at a convention, school or event, the only detail people may have about you is your name. It is a name that gives others that first impression, often prior to actually seeing you. The same train of thought happens with businesses. Building an app brand often starts with creating an Android app name that your business can be identified with.

Android app name

Choosing your Android app name

Your Android app name should be taken seriously. This step, a step that you may not have thought through, could be the make, or break, of your app. The naming of your app will bring the personality of the app to life even before the app has had the chance to be downloaded and viewed.

Today we are going to look at the importance of your app name, and how this seemingly small detail can make, or break your app. The following four points are what you need to consider when choosing your Android app name:

1: Using Keywords: If you want your app to be discovered in organic searches, then you should consider using a keyword tool such as Google AdWords to help you find the perfect name. Google AdWords highlights keywords that are currently being searched for. Use these examples in your app name and app description to help your app in organic searches.

2: Trial and error – If at first you don’t succeed, try, and try again. When publishing your app you should try a number of different names to see which trends more in searches. Be prepared to test out a number of app names before you get the one that is right for your brand.

3: Relevance – You may think that this is common sense, but you would be surprised at the number of apps we see failing because the name has no relevance to the app. You want people to search and download the app because they were looking for an app of this type. If your Android app name has no relevance to your app, you will be driving the wrong audience to your app. You may initially have great downloads, but this will backfire as the app will not be used by these people, and you will suffer from app deletions which will negatively affect your app in searches. Think sensibly before you name your app.

4: Competition – You may think that that a keyword with 1 million views per week is perfect for your app, but think again. Using a keyword with a lot of competition will prove counterproductive, because when the word is typed in to a search, all these competitors will show up in the results. You need to think about the competition rating within AdWords before deciding upon the words that you will include in your name and description.

3 Ways to Distribute Your Android App

Getting your app out to the millions is part of almost every app maker’s plan, but the question remains: how can you distribute your app effectively? There is no true answer as to the best distribution method. This is because there are numerous ways in which you can distribute your Android app.

Appsgeyser offers every app maker a free APK code. It is possible to download the free APK from your AppsGeyser platform to use for multiple distribution platforms. The following tips will help you maximize the distribution of your Android app.

android app marketing
Create an app and distribute it

Traditional distribution – App markets

The first place everyone will consider distributing their app is via an Android app market. The most obvious place to distribute your app is in an Android app market. There are numerous Android app markets available, with the most popular of all Android app markets being GooglePlay. Through online and app market searches, app users will be able to find and download your app, this is called organic app search. The better you have optimized your app the more chance it will have of being found through organic searches. From experience, app makers that have more than 7 apps in an app store will experience higher placements in app searches and thus higher download levels.

Email distribution

Email has been a popular marketing tool for some time. This tool has transferred to app distribution too. It is extremely rare to find a person who has a smartphone that does not have email connected to it. This gives you the perfect opportunity to target a mobile audience. AppsGeyser gives all app makers a QR code for each individual app as well as the APK and app link. Each of these three downloadable files can be used in email distributions.  All the app user will need to do is click on the link for your app that you have provided in the email and the app will be downloaded to their device.

Online Distribution

Many app makers already have an online presence, either via their current website or social media profiles. All online sites owned by you can be used to distribute your app code. Many of our app makers also use partner sites to distribute the app for them in a form of app share, where you share their app and they share your app to grow audience numbers.

Time to not only create an app – it is time to get serious and get distributing.

AppsGeyser is proud to present the latest new Android template release, the business location finder. Now is time to get your business on the map, literally. The latest new Android template is a geographical location finder that will allow you to guide your app users to your location. This app allows you to set a location to which your users will be guided. The app picks up the user’s geographical location on their mobile device, and will give them directions to get to the location that you have set.

This app is perfect for companies that have stores, restaurants and offices too. In fact, it is perfect for any business that has a physical location that clients need to get to. Let us take, for example, a hotel. The people that would use this app are those that are visiting the hotel. They have arrived in the city and want to know the exact location of the hotel, and how to get there. They can download this app, and it will tell them how to get to the hotel from their current location. Even if they have no location service on their phone, the app will give them a local map of the hotel so they can use that as a guide.

And then there are those that want to start a career as a mobile app developer.

App making is seen as a business style that endorses a healthy work/life balance. To create apps you do not need to be online 24 hours a day or stuck in the office from 9-5, but can work around your own schedule. So, are you looking to join the mobile app world as an app developer?

Android app business

5 Things You Need To Consider Before Starting an Android App Career

How do you start an Android app business?

There are 5 simple steps that you need to follow to see if you are ready to start your new life as an mobile app developer:

1: Idea – There must be a starting point for everyone, and in this business you need to have a clear idea regarding the topics that you want to create your app around. The style of app and content will all depend upon the reason you have decided to create the app – either for fun, for an existing business or as a marketing tool.

2: Research – It is not enough to decide that you want an app. There is more to it than that. Have you even looked to see if there is something similar already out there? It is time for you to do some research. Take a look at what is already on offer in the mobile market place and what you can put in place that will make your idea stand out from these. Do you know anything about your potential audience? What do they like and what will convince them to use your app?

3: Plan – Once you understand the market and the audience that you are aiming for, it is time for you to get planning. The first stage would be to decide on the content that you wish to use. From this information you can choose a template style that will complement the content.  Another important part of the planning stage is the marketing. You should be researching and deciding upon your keywords in order to help the ASO of the app even before the app is created. The right keywords need to tie all your apps together.

4: Create – This is the easy stage. You have already got the idea, undertaken your research and have your plan ready. Now all that is left is for you to create your app. App creation with AppsGeyser is simple. Simply click on your chosen template, upload your content and click create. Done. We always suggest you test your app on friends and family before you publish to a public source.

5: Market – Go, go, go. If you want your Android app business to succeed, you need to let others know that it exists. I know we have spoken about choosing the right keywords to assist in organic searches, but this will not be enough to get your app recognised. You need to focus on social marketing and traditional marketing.

6: Enjoy – Time for you to smile and enjoy the work that you have put in.

Social Media Marketing for Your Android App Business –Friend or Foe

Don’t we all love something that is free? That is one pro to social media marketing for your Android app business, but there is more to this free to use marketing tool that we need to discuss. Almost everyone you know will have some form of online profile, whether it is on Facebook or Twitter, or even Instagram, and if they don’t have a profile, they will certainly know of someone who has. Social media has become part of daily life and, as an app maker, it is important to know how to tap into this audience.

social media marketing for mobile apps

Android app business success with social media marketing. Tips to avoid

Social media marketing has certainly caught the attention of marketers due its availability and audience scale. There are different social platforms that allow you, as an app maker marketing an app, the ability to market your app in different styles to attract different audience members. However, as with everything in life, nothing is perfect, and social media is not different. A number of app makers have misused this marketing tool.

Today we are going to highlight how NOT to use social media to market your Android app business.

Sell, sell, sell

No, no, no. Social media is not a platform for you to sell directly. Social media is a place people turn to for fun and do not want to be overwhelmed with your sales pitch. You may be asking, then what is the point of social media if you cannot use it to sell to your audience? Social media is all about engagement and building relationships.

When you are building relationships, you are building trust and loyalty. This will convert into sales in an indirect manner. In the marketing industry this is called disruptive marketing. You are pulling in an audience to love you, trust you and believe in you. And in turn, they come to you and not to your competitors.

Social marketing is free

It really depends on which way you are looking at it. Social media does not have a financial outlay to it, so anyone can use and manipulate this tool to get their app into the eyes of a large audience. Social media marketing for your Android app is all based upon engagement. Therefore your time is essential, and time is money. You may need to employ someone to take on this role, or you will need to find the time yourself to properly invest in a marketing strategy.

If the effort you are putting in is infrequent, then you quite simply are wasting your time. No one expects you to be online at hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but you need to offer timely responses to messages and comments as well as commenting and messaging those on your watch list. The positive side of this, is that with mobile devices, most social profiles can simply travel with you; therefore you don’t have to sit in your office focused upon the computer awaiting a message. Social platforms will notify you when a message has been posted.

You need to be active 24 hours a day to succeed

In addition to replying to your audience in a timely manner, you should also be uploading content that will entice people to return to your page and keep your page active on their timelines. Once again, this does not mean you need to be active constantly. You can schedule posts to most social platforms.

Remember, social media marketing and Android app success starts with engagement. Engagement is key.

Time to get your app into the public domain and upload it to GooglePlay

App distribution is what we see as the most exciting part of app making. This is the point at which you make your work public, and begin your journey to app success.

In order for your app business to succeed, you need to get your app into the public domain in the most effective manner. GooglePlay is not the only app store in the Android market, but whether or not we like it, GooglePlay dominates the market, and for most people is the best way to get an app to the masses.

The success of your app distribution comes down to your pre-distribution  marketing. In previous posts, we have spoken about the importance of building your brand prior to app distribution. Once you have got to the distribution stage, it is not the time to take a step back. You need to ensure that the distribution process is carried out precisely, as now isn’t the time to start making mistakes.

Step-by-Step guide to Creating an Android App Business

It is amazing to see how our Android app makers are turning their singular apps into Android app businesses. For those if you that have turned to me asking for advice for improving the success of your app, let me remind you, app makers with a multitude of apps are ten times more likely to have Android app success than those who stick to a single app.

Creating an app empire brings value to your main app because it builds trust in you and your brand. I am not going to bore you with the details about why you should make an app empire as we have already discussed that, but remember the main route to app success begins with: the need to build trust in your app users, create an Android app brand and bring some loyalty to your brand.

Today I am going to take you through a step-by-step guide to creating an Android app business. We are going to take a singular idea and by using different template styles we are going to turn this idea into multiple apps. The idea behind this is to be able to capture different audience styles, thus increasing your brand’s overall audience size.

I am going to take the subject of education as my idea for my app portfolio. You will see that with this one subject I am able to make several different styled apps that will capture different audience types. What apps can I make?

AppsGeyser has a over 50 different app templates styles that you can use to make an Android app business. It is up to you to use these app templates to attract the different audience styles. We are going to take 5 different templates and see how we can use them to attract different audience styles.

1: Browser app

This app template is a wonderful tool for those wanting to build a large educational app without having to create a lot of new content. The Browser app tool allows you to navigate various web resources from within the app. We can find a range of education related websites that we can link to our app. Always make sure that you check all copyrights and have permission to use these sites before you do this.

2: RSS app

The RSS app tool gives you the ability to create a pre-set search for real time news on a chosen topic. We are going to set our app search to educational advice. If you don’t want a range of different sites appearing, you can also link to an RSS feed from a chosen website, instead of creating a general search.

3: YouTube video app

This template is one that has numerous uses. It can be used for educational purposes, for example, teaching someone about the stages of development in preschool aged children, or it can be used to show lesson tutorial videos. We love using this tool for both reasons. Therefore this template can actually build you two different apps.

4: Website app

Welcome to our most popular app tool of all times. This app is to be used to link to your own personal website that has been optimized for mobile use . This app template can be used for more than one reason. You can use it to create links to your website, your blog, or even your social networks. That is already 3 different apps that you can create from one template alone.

5: Zip Archive  app

Why don’t you create an off line app? You can write your own files and upload them using the zip archive app. Create what you wish: lesson plans, downloadable lessons, and so forth. This app style is for those that want to test their technical expertise
